Songs for Worship – March 22, 2020

Resources for personal devotion and/or family worship—whether planned or impromptu (e.g., like singing together in the car).

These song arrangements will differ in varying degrees from what you’ll hear at Cross Park, yet these melodies will prepare you for making “a joyful noise to the LORD!”

Great Is Thy Faithfulness

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.

Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon, and stars in their courses above,
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy, and love.   Chorus

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!   Chorus

He Will Hold Me Fast

When I fear my faith will fail,
Christ will hold me fast!
When the tempter would prevail,
He will hold me fast!
I could never keep my hold
Through life’s fearful path
For my love is often cold;
He must hold me fast!   Chorus

He will hold me fast!
He will hold me fast!
For my Savior loves me so;
He will hold me fast!

Those He saves are his delight;
Christ will hold me fast!
Precious in his holy sight;
He will hold me fast!
He’ll not let my soul be lost;
His promises shall last.
Bought by him at such a cost;
He will hold me fast!   Chorus

For my life he bled and died;
Christ will hold me fast!
Justice has been satisfied;
He will hold me fast!
Raised with him to endless life;
He will hold me fast!
Till our faith is turned to sight
When he comes at last!   Chorus

Yet Not I

What gift of grace is Jesus my redeemer;
There is no more for heaven now to give.
He is my joy, my righteousness, and freedom,
My steadfast love, my deep and boundless peace!

To this I hold: my hope is only Jesus,
For my life is wholly bound to his!
Oh how strange and divine, I can sing: “All is mine!”
Yet not I, but through Christ in me.

The night is dark, but I am not forsaken
For by my side, the Savior he will stay.
I labor on in weakness and rejoicing,
For in my need, his power is displayed.

To this I hold, my Shepherd will defend me
Through the deepest valley he will lead.
Oh the night has been won, and I shall overcome!
Yet not I, but through Christ in me.

No fate I dread, I know I am forgiven.
The future sure, the price it has been paid.
For Jesus bled and suffered for my pardon,
And he was raised to overthrow the grave!

To this I hold: my sin has been defeated!
“Jesus,” now and ever is my plea!
Oh the chains are released, I can sing: “I am free!”
Yet not I, but through Christ in me.

With every breath, I long to follow Jesus,
For he has said that he will bring me home.
And day by day I know he will renew me
Until I stand with joy before the throne.

To this I hold: my hope is only Jesus––
All the glory evermore to him!
When the race is complete, still my lips shall repeat:
“Yet not I, but through Christ in me!”

When the race is complete, still my lips shall repeat:
“Yet not I, but through Christ in me!”
“Yet not I, but through Christ in me!”
“Yet not I, but through Christ in me!”

All Creatures of Our God and King

All creatures of our God and King
Lift up your voice and with us sing
O praise Him! Alleluia!
Thou, burning sun with golden beam
Thou, silver moon with softer gleam
O praise Him! O praise Him!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Let all things their Creator bless
And worship Him in humbleness
O praise Him! Alleluia!
Praise, praise the Father, praise the Son
And praise the Spirit, Three-in-One
O praise Him! O praise Him!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

All the redeemed washed by His blood
Come and rejoice in His great love
O praise Him! Alleluia!
Christ has defeated every sin
Cast all your burdens now on Him
O praise Him! O praise Him!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

He shall return in pow’r to reign
Heaven and earth will join to say
O praise Him! Alleluia!
Then who shall fall on bended knee?
All creatures of our God and King
O praise Him! O praise Him!
Alleluia! Alleluia!
O praise Him! O praise Him!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Jesus, What a Friend for Sinners!

Jesus, what a friend for sinners!
Jesus! Lover of my soul;
Friends may fail me, foes assail me,
He, my Savior, makes me whole.

Hallelujah! What a Savior!
Hallelujah! What a friend!
Saving, helping, keeping, loving,
He is with me to the end.

Jesus, what a strength in weakness!
Let me hide myself in Him.
Tempted, tried, and often failing,
He, my strength, my victory wins.   Chorus

Jesus, what a help in sorrow,
While the billows o’er me roll!
Even when my heart is breaking,
He, my comfort, helps my soul.   Chorus

Jesus, I do now receive Him,
More than all in Him I find.
He hath granted me forgiveness,
I am His, and He is mine.   Chorus
