Songs for Worship – November 3, 2019

Resources for personal devotion and/or family worship—whether planned or impromptu (e.g., like singing together in the car).

These song arrangements will differ in varying degrees from what you’ll hear at Cross Park, yet these melodies will prepare you for making “a joyful noise to the LORD!”

Holy Is the LORD

We stand and lift up our hands for the joy of the LORD is our strength!
We bow down and worship him now––how great, how awesome is he!
And together we sing,

Holy is the LORD God Almighty! The earth is filled with his glory!
Holy is the LORD God Almighty! The earth is filled with his glory;
The earth is filled with his glory!

We stand and lift up our hands for the joy of the LORD is our strength!
We bow down and worship him now––how great, how awesome is he!
And together we sing––everyone sing,   Chorus

It’s rising up all around; it’s the anthem of the Lord’s renown!   (repeat)

We sing––everyone sing,
Holy is the LORD God Almighty! The earth is filled with his glory
Holy is the LORD God Almighty! The earth is filled with his glory!   Chorus

O Love Incomprehensible

O Love incomprehensible that made thee bleed for me:
The Judge of all has suffered death to set his pris’ner free!

What pain, what soul-oppressing pain the Great Redeemer bore,
While bloody sweat, like drops of rain, distilled from every pore.   Chorus

Arraigned at Pilate’s shameful bar, unparalleled disgrace;
See spotless innocence appear in guilt’s detested place.   Chorus

“‘Tis finished!” now aloud he cries; no more the Law requires.
And now–amazing sacrifice–the Lord of Life expires!   Chorus

On thee alone my hope relies, beneath thy cross I fall,
My Lord, my Life, my Sacrifice, my Savior, and my All!   Chorus

Good Shepherd of My Soul

Good Shepherd of my soul, come dwell within me;
Take all I am and mould, your likeness in me.
Before the cross of Christ, this is my sacrifice:
A life laid down and ready to follow.

The troubled find their peace, in true surrender;
The prisoners their release, from chains of anger.
In springs of living grace, I find a resting place
To rise refreshed and ready to follow.

I’ll walk this narrow road, with Christ before me,
Where thorns and thistles grow, and cords ensnare me.
Though doubted and denied, He never leaves my side,
But lifts my head and calls me to follow.

And when my days are gone, my strength is failing,
He’ll carry me along, through death’s unveiling.
Earth’s struggles overcome, heaven’s journey just begun
To search Christ’s depths and ever to follow.
To search Christ’s depths and ever to follow.

Brethren, We Have Met to Worship

Brethren, we have met to worship and adore the Lord, our God.
Will you pray with all your power while we try to preach the Word?
All is vain unless the Spirit of the Holy One comes down.
Brethren, pray and holy manna will be showered all around!

Brethren, see poor sinners ’round you, slumb’ring on the brink of woe––
Death is coming, hell is moving––can you bear to let them go?
See our fathers and our mothers, and our children sinking down.
Brethren, pray and holy manna will be showered all around!

Sisters, will you join and help as Moses’ sister aided him?
Will you help the trembling mourners who are struggling hard with sin?
Tell them all about the Savior; tell them that he will be found;
Sisters, pray and holy manna will be showered all around!

Let us love our God supremely, let us love each other, too.
Let us love and pray for sinners till our God makes all things new.
Then he’ll call us home to heaven––trade our suff’rings for a crown!
Yes, he’ll call us home to heaven––at his table we’ll sit down!
Christ will gird himself and serve us with sweet manna all around!

Grace Upon Grace

In every station, new trials and troubles
Call for more grace than I can afford;
Where can I go now but to my dear Savior
For mercy that pours from boundless stores.

Grace upon grace, every sin repaired,
Every void restored—you will find him there!
In every turning he will prepare you
With grace upon grace.

He made a way for the fallen to rise,
Perfect in glory and sacrifice.
In sweet communion my need he supplies.
He saves and keeps and guards my life!
Chorus

To you I run now with great expectation,
To honor you with trust like a child.
My hopes and desires seek a new destination,
And all that you ask your grace will provide!

Grace upon grace, every sin repaired,
Every void restored—you will find him there!
In every turning he will prepare you

Grace upon grace, every sin repaired,
Every void restored—you will find him there!
In every turning he will prepare you
With grace upon grace;
With grace upon grace.

Behold Our God

Who has held the oceans in his hand?
Who has numbered every grain of sand?
Kings and nations tremble at his voice;
All creation rises to rejoice.

Behold our God, seated on his throne; come, let us adore him!
Behold our King, nothing can compare; come, let us adore him!

Who has given counsel to the Lord?
Who can question any of his words?
Who can teach the One who knows all things?
Who can fathom all his wondrous deeds?   Chorus

Who has felt the nails upon his hands,
Bearing all the guilt of sinful man?
God eternal, humbled to the grave;
Jesus, Savior, risen now to reign!   Chorus

You will reign forever! Let your glory fill the earth!   (repeat)

Behold our God, seated on his throne; come, let us adore him!
Behold our King, nothing can compare; come, let us adore   Chorus
