Songs for Worship – July 7, 2019

Resources for personal devotion and/or family worship—whether planned or impromptu (e.g., like singing together in the car).

These song arrangements will differ in varying degrees from what you’ll hear at Cross Park, yet these melodies will prepare you for making “a joyful noise to the LORD!”

Your Great Name We Praise

Immortal, invisible, God only-wise,
In light inaccessible hid from our eyes!
Most holy, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
Almighty, victorious, your great name we praise!

Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light,
Not wanting, nor wasting, you rule us in might.
Your justice like mountains high soaring above,
Your clouds which are fountains of goodness and love.

Most holy, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
Almighty, victorious, your great name we praise!

All life comes from you, Lord, to both great and small;
In all life you live, Lord, the true life of all.
We blossom and flourish, but quickly grow frail;
We wither and perish, but you never fail.   Chorus

Great Father of glory, pure Father of light,
Your angels adore you, all veiling their sight.
All praise we would render, O Father of grace,
Till one day in splendor we see face to face.   Chorus

Come Ye Sinners

Come, ye sinners, poor and wretched,
Weak and wounded, sick and sore;
Jesus, ready, stands to save you,
Full of pity, joined with power.
He is able, He is able;
He is willing; doubt no more.

Come ye needy, come, and welcome,
God’s free bounty glorify;
True belief and true repentance,
Every grace that brings you nigh.
Without money, without money
Come to Jesus Christ and buy.

Come, ye weary, heavy laden,
Bruised and broken by the fall;
If you tarry ’til you’re better,
You will never come at all.
Not the righteous, not the righteous;
Sinners Jesus came to call.

Let not conscience make you linger,
Nor of fitness fondly dream;
All the fitness He requires
Is to feel your need of Him.
This He gives you, this He gives you,
‘Tis the Spirit’s rising beam.

Lo! The Incarnate God, ascended;
Pleads the merit of His blood.
Venture on Him; venture wholly,
Let no other trust intrude.
None but Jesus, none but Jesus
Can do helpless sinners good.

Anchor of Hope

Marvelous, wonderful, infinite God;
Author of all that is good;
Faithful provider and giver of life;
Source of all power and love!

Great is the Lord, and most worthy of praise;
Refuge of strength to the end;
Righteous redeemer and mighty to save––
He’s the anchor of hope for the souls of men!

Gracious, compassionate, merciful God;
Radiant, holy delight;
Beautiful Father, victorious Son;
Source of unchangeable light!   Chorus

You are light in the dark,
You are healing for the broken heart
You are hope, you are Lord,
You are life, you are love that endures!

Powerful, constant, unwavering God;
Shepherd who comes for the lost;
Rock of salvation––remarkable love––
Savior who died on the cross!   Chorus

How Firm a Foundation

How firm a foundation, you saints of the Lord,
Is laid for your faith in his excellent Word!
What more can he say than to you he has said,
To you who for refuge to Jesus have fled?

“Fear not, I am with you, O be not dismayed;
For I am your God, and will still give you aid;
I’ll strengthen you, help you, and cause you to stand,
Upheld by my righteous, omnipotent hand.”

“When through the deep waters I call you to go,
The rivers of sorrow shall not overflow;
For I will be with you, your trouble to bless,
And sanctify to you your deepest distress.”

“When through fiery trials your pathway shall lie,
My grace all-sufficient shall be your supply.
The flames shall not hurt you; I only design
Your dross to consume and your gold to refine.”

“The soul that on Jesus has leaned for repose,
I will not, I will not desert to his foes;
That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake,
I’ll never, no never, no never forsake.”

Psalm 62

My soul finds rest in God alone:
My rock and my salvation;
A fortress strong against my foes;
And I will not be shaken!
Though lips may bless, and hearts may curse,
And lies like arrows pierce me,
I’ll fix my heart on righteousness––
I’ll look to him who hears me!

O praise him, hallelujah!
My Delight and my Reward!
Everlasting, never failing:
My Redeemer, my God!

Find rest, my soul, in God alone,
Amid the world’s temptations.
When evil seeks to take a hold,
I’ll cling to my salvation!
Though riches come and riches go,
Don’t set your heart upon them.
The fields of hope in which I sow
Are harvested in heaven.   Chorus

I’ll set my gaze on God alone
And trust in him completely.
With ev’ry day, pour out my soul,
And he will prove his mercy!
Though life is but a fleeting breath––
A sigh too deep to measure––
My King has crushed the curse of death,
And I am his forever!   Chorus

Lord, I Need You

Lord, I come, I confess;
Bowing here I find my rest;
Without you I fall apart––
You’re the One who guides my heart.

Lord, I need you, oh, I need you!
Every hour I need you!
My one defense, my righteousness––
Oh God, how I need you!

Where sin runs deep, your grace is more;
Where grace is found, is where you are;
And where you are, Lord, I am free––
Holiness is Christ in me!   Chorus

Teach my song to rise to you
When temptation comes my way;
And when I cannot stand, I’ll fall on you;
Jesus, you’re my hope and stay!   Chorus
