Songs for Worship – July 14, 2019

Resources for personal devotion and/or family worship—whether planned or impromptu (e.g., like singing together in the car).

These song arrangements will differ in varying degrees from what you’ll hear at Cross Park, yet these melodies will prepare you for making “a joyful noise to the LORD!”

Psalm 103 (O My Soul, With All Thy Powers)

O my soul, with all thy powers, Bless the LORD’s most holy name;
O my soul, till life’s last hours, Bless the LORD, his praise proclaim.
Thine infirmities he healed, he thy peace and pardon sealed;
O my soul, with all thy powers, Bless the LORD’s most holy name.

He with loving-kindness crowned thee, satisfied thy mouth with good,
From the snares of death unbound thee, eagle-like thy youth renewed.
Rich in tender mercy he, slow to wrath, to favor free;
O my soul, with all thy powers,
Bless the LORD’s most holy name.

Bless the LORD (Bless the LORD), O my soul!
Bless the LORD (Bless the LORD), O my soul!
Bless the LORD (Bless the LORD), O my soul!
Bless the LORD , O my soul, O my soul!

He will not retain displeasure, though awhile he hide his face,
Nor his God-like bounty measure by our merit, but his grace.
As the heav’n the earth transcends, over us his care extends;
O my soul, with all thy powers, Bless the LORD’s most holy name.

Far as east and west are parted, he our sins hath severed thus;
As a father, loving-hearted, spares his son, he spareth us.
For he knows our feeble frame; he remembers whence we came;
O my soul, with all thy powers,
Bless the LORD’s most holy name.   Chorus

From eternity enduring, to eternity the Lord
Still his people’s bliss ensuring, keeps his covenanted word.
Yea, with truth and righteousness, children’s children he will bless;
O my soul, with all thy powers, Bless the LORD’s most holy name.

As in heaven, his throne and dwelling, King on earth he holds his sway;
Angels, ye in strength excelling, Bless the LORD, his voice obey;
All his works in all the earth, Bless the LORD, proclaim his worth;
O my soul, with all thy powers,
Bless the LORD’s most holy name.   Chorus

O Love Incomprehensible

O Love incomprehensible that made thee bleed for me:
The Judge of all has suffered death to set his pris’ner free!

What pain, what soul-oppressing pain the Great Redeemer bore,
While bloody sweat, like drops of rain, distilled from every pore.   Chorus

Arraigned at Pilate’s shameful bar, unparalleled disgrace;
See spotless innocence appear in guilt’s detested place.   Chorus

“‘Tis finished!” now aloud he cries; no more the Law requires.
And now–amazing sacrifice–the Lord of Life expires!   Chorus

On thee alone my hope relies, beneath thy cross I fall,
My Lord, my Life, my Sacrifice, my Savior, and my All!   Chorus

Resting Place

My faith has found a resting place,
Not in my work or deed.
I trust the Ever-living One,
His wounds for me shall plead.

I need no other argument,
I need no other plea,
It is enough that Jesus died,
And that He died for me.

Enough for me that Jesus saves!
This ends my fear and doubt!
A sinful soul, I come to Him,
He’ll never cast me out!   Chorus

The wondrous cross, your precious blood,
Your sacrifice, it is enough!

Your love has led me up that hill;
To the cross you are leading still!   Chorus

Arise, O God, and Shine

Arise, O God, and shine in all thy saving might,
And prosper each design to spread thy glorious light;
Let healing streams of mercy flow
that all the earth thy truth may know.

Bring distant nations near to sing thy glorious praise;
Let every people hear and learn thy holy ways.
Reign, mighty God, assert thy cause,
and govern by thy righteous laws.

Put forth thy glorious power, that everyone may see
And earth present her store, in converts born to thee.
God, our own God, his church will bless,
And fill the world with righteousness.

To God, the only Wise, the one immortal King,
Let hallelujahs rise, from every living thing;
Let all that breathe, on every coast,
praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

Crown Him with Many Crowns

Crown him with many crowns––the Lamb upon his throne!
Hark! How the heavenly anthem drowns, all music but its own!
Awake, my soul and sing, of him who died for thee,
And hail him as thy matchless King, through all eternity!

Crown him the Lord of love! Behold his hands and side––
Rich wounds, yet visible above, in beauty glorified
No angel in the sky, can fully bear that sight,
But downward bends his burning eye, at mysteries so bright!

Crown him the Lord of life, who triumphed o’er the grave,
And rose victorious in the strife for those he came to save!
His glories now we sing––who died and rose on high;
Who died, eternal life to bring, and lives that death may die!

Crown him the Lord of Peace, whose power a scepter sways
From pole to pole, that wars may cease, absorbed in prayer and praise!
His reign shall have no end, and round his pierced feet,
Fair flowers of paradise extend, their fragrance ever sweet!
