Songs for Worship – February 3, 2019

Resources for personal devotion and/or family worship—whether planned or impromptu (e.g., like singing together in the car).

These song arrangements will differ in varying degrees from what you’ll hear at Cross Park, yet these melodies will prepare you for making “a joyful noise to the LORD!”

Come Christians, Join To Sing

Rejoice, and sing to God our Lord, our King!
Lift up, and praise his Name! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Come Christians, join to sing—Alleluia! Amen!
Loud praise to Christ our King—Alleluia! Amen!
Let all with heart and voice before his throne rejoice;
Praise is his gracious choice—Alleluia! Amen!

Come, lift your hearts on high—Alleluia! Amen!
Let praises fill the sky— Alleluia! Amen!
He is our Guide and Friend; to us he’ll condescend;
His love shall never end—Alleluia! Amen!

Rejoice, and sing to God our Lord, our King!
Lift up, and praise his Name! Alleluia!
Rejoice, and sing to God our Lord, our King!
Lift up, and praise his Name! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Praise yet our Christ again—Alleluia! Amen!
Life shall not end the strain—Alleluia! Amen!
On heaven’s blissful shore his goodness we’ll adore,
Singing forevermore, “Alleluia! Amen!%Chorus

Grace Alone

I was an orphan, lost at the fall,
Running away when I’d hear your call;
But Father, you worked your will.
I had no righteousness of my own;
I had no right to draw near your throne;
But Father, you loved me still.

And, in love, before you laid the world’s foundation,
You predestined to adopt me as your own.
You have raised me so high up above my station––
I’m a child of God by grace and grace alone!

You left your home to seek out the lost;
You knew the great and terrible cost;
But Jesus, your face was set.
I worked my fingers down to the bone;
Nothing I did could ever atone;
But Jesus, you paid my debt!

By your blood I have redemption and salvation!
Lord, you died that I might reap what you have sown;
And you rose that I might be a new creation––
I am born again by grace and grace alone!

I was in darkness all of my life;
I never knew the day from the night;
But Spirit, you made me see.
I swore I knew the way on my own––
Head full of rocks, a heart made of stone––
But Spirit, you moved in me.

At your touch, my sleeping spirit was awakened;
On my darkened heart the light of Christ has shone;
Called into a kingdom that cannot be shaken––
Heaven’s citizen by grace and grace alone!

So I’ll stand in faith by grace and grace alone!
I will run the race by grace and grace alone!
I will slay my sin by grace and grace alone!
I will reach the end by grace and grace alone!

How Deep The Father’s Love For Us

How deep the Father’s love for us––
How vast beyond all measure––
That he should give his only Son
To make a wretch his treasure!
How great the pain of searing loss;
The Father turns his face away,
As wounds which mar the Chosen One
Bring many sons to glory!

Behold the Man, upon a cross;
My sin upon his shoulders!
Ashamed, I hear my mocking voice
Call out among the scoffers.
It was my sin that held him there
Until it was accomplished.
His dying breath has brought me life;
I know that it is finished!

I will not boast in anything––
No gifts, no pow’r, no wisdom––
But I will boast in Jesus Christ,
His death and resurrection!
Why should I gain from his reward?
I cannot give an answer,
But this I know, with all my heart:
His wounds have paid my ransom!

Jesus With Thy Church Abide

Jesus, with thy Church abide,
Be her Savior, Lord, and Guide,
While on earth her faith is tried:
We beseech thee, hear us,
We beseech thee, hear us.

Keep her life and doctrine pure,
Grant her patience to endure,
Trusting in thy promise sure:
We beseech thee, hear us,
We beseech thee, hear us!

May she one in doctrine be,
One in truth and charity,
Winning all to faith in thee:
We beseech thee, hear us,
We beseech thee, hear us.

May she guide the poor and blind,
Seek the lost until she find,
And the brokenhearted bind:
We beseech thee, hear us,
We beseech thee, hear us,
We beseech thee, hear us,
We beseech thee, hear us!

This Is Amazing Grace

Who breaks the power of sin and darkness?
Whose love is mighty and so much stronger?
The King of Glory––the King above all kings!

Who shakes the whole earth with holy thunder,
And leaves us breathless in awe and wonder?
The King of Glory––the King above all kings!

This is amazing grace!
This is unfailing love––
That you would take my place––
That you would bear my cross!
You laid down your life
That I would be set free;
Jesus, I sing for
All that you’ve done for me!

Who brings our chaos back into order?
Who makes the orphan a son and daughter?
The King of Glory––the King above all kings!

Who rules the nations with truth and justice;
Shines like the sun in all of its brilliance?
The King of Glory––the King above all kings! Chorus

Worthy is the Lamb who was slain,
Worthy is the King who conquered the grave!
Worthy is the Lamb who was slain,
Worthy is the King who conquered the grave!   (repeat)

Jesus, I sing for
All that you’ve done for me! Chorus

On Jordan’s Stormy Banks I Stand

I am bound (I am bound), I am bound (I am bound)
I am bound for the Promised Land
I am bound (I am bound), I am bound (I am bound)
I am bound for the Promised Land

On Jordan’s stormy banks I stand, and cast a wishful eye
To Canaan’s fair and happy land, where my possessions lie.

I am bound (I am bound), I am bound (I am bound)
I am bound for the Promised Land
I am bound (I am bound), I am bound (I am bound)
I am bound for the Promised Land

All o’er those wide extended plains, shines one eternal day
There God the Son forever reigns, and scatters night away! Chorus

No chilling winds nor poisonous breath, can reach that healthful shore
Sickness, sorrow, pain and death, are felt and feared no more! Chorus

When shall I reach that happy place, and be forever blessed?
When shall I see my Father’s face, and in His bosom rest? Chorus
